Multiverse starships
Yea i know you guys discontinued it but i found the file online i was so happy though i could play it again i installed loaded it up clicked new game made my ship hit done and it was loading but when it got to calling central server it quits and i get a error and everything >.< just wondering if it is trying to call your old server but since it doesn't exsit anymore it quits and comes with a error is there anyway to bypass it to makeing it think that my computer was a centralised server by rerouting the ip it is trying to connect to my own via the host file or is it because i am useing Direct X 9 that it doesn't work I know you will probbly just say you have discontued it and don't suport it but i personly think it was your best game and would like to play it even if its just me and my friends would bring back good old memories ^.^ but it never hurts to ask and even if you don't suport it or anything like that why not just release the code? or make it stand alone >.> P.S Your anouncements can only be read by modorators no one can read them just though you should know that

Thanks for the kind words about M: Starships, Koji. You're correct that the game is WAY old and no longer supported by us. Multiverse never USED a central server, that I know of. I think it DID ship with a link to my server (which isn't up any more, as you realized). But Multiverse was supposed to be a game where EVERYONE was a server, and you and your friends could visit each others' regions of space. Your DX9 should work just fine with the game; as I recall, Multiverse used DX3 or DX7, both of which should still be supported in DX 9. Yes, I COULD release the code, but it's ugly and clumsy, and anyone who wanted to bad enough, could make a better multiverse game using the tools and languages that are out there now. Thanks for pointing out that only mods could read the announcements threads. I think I've fixed it.

He be refering to your server which served as a main match-making directory for people's quadrants to register on and draw links to other servers from. Koji, an IP redirection alone would prove futile as the client actually expects more than a mere receiving terminal at the other end; certain information (starting with a handshake protocol) is to be exchanged and with the lack of it the process fails. At any rate, if it be spacegames which you adorn, you may wish to come experience Armada Online.
